It is with deepest regret that we have to advise that Vintage Roadscene Editor, Alan Earnshaw, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, 10th March 2009 after several months of illness that involved frequent visits to hospital. Alan leaves his wife Larraine, and children Sarah, Bryony, Louise and Peter and nine grandchildren, and also his mother. Our heartfelt sympathies go to them all and we wish them all the best in the future as they come to terms with their sad loss. Larraine Earnshaw and Family would like to sincerely thank everyone for their kind gifts of flowers, cards, letters, and support at the funeral... "We were sorry we didn't get to speak to you all, but your kind and sincere expressions of condolence have been greatly appreciated."

"...He will be missed by his friends and colleagues and the wider historic transport community. His many published books and magazine article are a lasting testimony to a remarkable and very knowledgeable man." - Paul Appleton, Ian Allan Publishing

"...Alan will assuredly be sorely missed by readers world wide, and I for one feel as though I have lost much more than a colleague and friend." - David Hayward, Southampton

"...For those of us that knew Alan, it's easy to say good things about him, as he was without doubt, a truly great and multi-faceted family man. For my part, I will not only miss his professional support as my publisher, but also his friendship, whit and humanity." - Steve Tillyer, Northamptonshire
