FS05 - Todmorden Buses - A Century of Service |
![]() |
Author: Ralph Wilkinson |
| Synopsis: The Pennine borough of Todmorden was one of the few municipalities in the North of England never to have had a passenger tramway system. Delays in the implementation of the Todmorden Corporation Tramways Order of 1902, allowed development of the internal combustion engine to advance to such a point that the motor bus became a competitor worthy of serious consideration. Thus the borough became only the second in England to run buses, the services commencing on 1st January 1907. |
